Draymond Green’s Indefinite Suspension Lifted by NBA

The NBA has announced that it will lift the indefinite suspension of Draymond Green after he was away from the court for 12 official games, journalist Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed to ESPN.

Green will return to the Warriors’ facilities today, Sunday, to return to Steve Kerr’s command and will need at least a week to recondition.

It should be remembered that on December 13, the NBA confirmed an “indefinite sanction” for the power forward after he was involved in a latest incident with Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic.

“Green has completed steps that demonstrated a commitment to adapting his conduct to the standards expected of an NBA player,” the league said in a statement. “He has had meetings with the Advisor and has met on multiple occasions with representatives of the league, the Warriors and the Players Association, which he will continue for the remainder of the year,” he explained.

The meetings took place via video conference via the Zoom platform and saw the participation of Rich Paul, director of his representation agency Klutch Sport; general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. as well as Warriors assistant Rick Celebrini.

A week before his fight with Nurkic, the aforementioned Green was involved in an embarrassing fight with Rudy Gobert, of the T-Wolves, where he ended up grabbing him by the neck.

“The one who strangled Rudy (Gobert), the one who had a savage beating with Jusuf (Nurkic), the one who beat Poole last year… This is the guy who needs to change,” Steve Kerr said. «This is not an outburst on the track. It’s about your life. This is someone I believe in. Someone I’ve known for decades and love because of his loyalty,” he noted.

While Green was away from the discipline of the Warriors, he remained in constant contact with his coach and some of his teammates.

«Space was important to him and to us. “We’re trying to win games and he was trying to put himself in a position to come back as soon as possible,” Kerr added.

According to Bobby Marks, he lost about $2 million in salary during the time he was suspended and the Warriors saved $9 million in luxury taxes.

For their part, they went 7-5 in his absence, and are generally 10-10 this season when Green has been out, either due to injury or suspension. Over the next three days they will host the Pelicans, Bulls and Bucks.
