Chicago Bears Secure First Pick in 2024 Draft After Panthers’ Loss to Jacksonville

The Panthers’ loss to Jacksonville in Week 17 secured the first selection in the 2024 Draft for the Chicago Bears, a franchise that obtained the pick after the previous year’s trade thanks to which Carolina secured quarterback Bryce Young, who emerged from the University of Alabama.

Travis Etienne scored twice, including one of his longest carries of the season, and the Jaguars ended a four-game winless drought with a 26-0 shutout of the Panthers.

The Panthers (2-14) fell to 0-9 on the road and were held scoreless for the first time in their loss to Atlanta in Week 12 of the 2002 season.

Jacksonville can win the AL South with a victory next week against Tennessee, but losing to the Titans would cede the division title to the winner of the game between the Houston Texans and the Indianapolis Colts.
