Frankfurt/Main. The Würzburg Baskets consolidate a place for the playoffs. Alba Berlin is back on the road to success. The Rostock Seawolves celebrate an important victory in the relegation battle.
The Würzburg Baskets have taken a big step towards the Bundesliga playoffs. Saso Filipovski’s team won against Syntainics MBC with 107:83 (53:48) and has the best chance of qualifying directly for the next round three game days before the end of the main round. The MBC, on the other hand, is still stuck in the relegation battle.
The Telekom Baskets Bonn increased their chances of a playoff place with the 89:79 (46:41) win over the Bamberg Baskets. For the time being, they pushed Rasta Vechta, who played one game less, out of sixth place in the table. Bamberg, on the other hand, suffered a small setback in the fight for the play-ins.
Alba with a hard-fought victory
Alba Berlin only avoided a second setback with great effort. The capital city team won against relegation candidate MLP Academics Heidelberg with 96:89 (47:45). The best point collector in his comeback was world champion Johannes Thiemann with 21 points.
The Rostock Seawolves celebrated a notable success in the relegation battle. After the surprising 91:85 (42:32) win against the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg, the North Germans now have a good chance for another year of the Bundesliga. Ludwigsburg has to worry about getting into the playoffs after the unexpected defeat.
The Veolia Hamburg Towers defeated the Hakro Merlins Crailsheim with 94:88 and can currently plan for the play-ins. Crailsheim remains in a relegation zone.
