AZ presents a million-dollar acquisition and has acquired the desired midfielder

Kristijan Belic is AZ’s second winter acquisition, the Alkmaarders announced through official channels. The 22-year-old midfielder from Serbia has signed a contract until mid-2028.
Belic comes over from Partizan Belgrade and AZ are reportedly deep in their pockets. The Belgian-born Serbian still had a contract until the summer of 2026. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is 2.5 million euros, but various sources report that the Alkmaarders will transfer around 4 million euros for Belic’s services.
Belic has been associated with AZ for a long time, which was eagerly looking for an extra midfielder. Last week, Fabrizio Romano also reported about Alkmaar’s interest in the Serb.
Trainer Pascal Jansen is currently short on midfielders. Djordje Mihailovic has left for Colorado Rapids in the MLS, Sven Mijnans is struggling with an injury and it is still uncertain whether Dani de Wit will stay.
Belic is the second acquisition for AZ this transfer period. The current number four in the Eredivisie previously strengthened itself with wing defender Gonçalo Esteves, who came over from Sporting Portugal.
Belic was having an excellent season at Partizan. In the first eighteen league games of this season, he scored two goals and six assists. Belic will play with shirt number 14 in the AFAS Stadium.

Belic responded to his transfer via the club website. “I’m very happy to be here. When I saw the stadium I was speechless. It’s great. After we entered the winter break in Serbia in December, the talks with AZ started. It’s a great club for the next step in my career and I hope to be able to create something beautiful here.”
Director of football affairs Max Huiberts is also pleased with the transfer. “After the departure of Djordje Mihailovic and the rental of Kenzo Goudmijn, we wanted to fill that spot in the selection with a midfielder that we have been looking for for some time. Kristijan fits that profile. He is only 22 years old, but he does have a past where he has already gained some experience. That is also what we can use.”
“He is a boy who moves a lot, runs a lot, can easily find his way with the ball, has aggressiveness in his game and does not shy away from duels,” said Huiberts. “This was a position we were eager to fill, so we are very happy that Kristijan is here.”
