In Tuesday’s session, Diehl did not take part in coach Timo Schultz’s exercises. The Goatblog quotes sports director Christian Keller: “Justin is training individually this week for disciplinary reasons.”
The possible reason: Diehl was not in the stadium against the Berliners – unlike other injured or non-nominated teammates. Schultz then suggested sporting reasons for not being taken into account. The week before, the dribbler had come on as a substitute in the 0-0 draw against SC Freiburg, which had fueled hopes of possible further appearances in the season finale. A muscle injury in his thigh had previously stopped him for weeks.
Final without the talent
It could have been his last appearance in the FC jersey for the time being. Diehl, who was born in Cologne and has been playing for Effzeh since he was nine, wants to leave the club for free in the summer – probably to VfB Stuttgart.
