Badminton queen Ahn Se-young has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Malaysia Open, the first tournament of the new year.

Ahn Se-young first won the first set against Germany’s Yvonne Lee, ranked 27th in the world, in the round of 16 of the tournament held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and then took the second set by 13 points to win 2-0.

Ahn Se-young displayed overwhelming performance as if she had shaken off the aftereffects of a knee injury suffered during the Asian Games, revealing her prospects for winning the tournament.
