Although the possibility of attending the Paris 2024 Olympic Games seems distant for Abraham Ancer, the golfer does not lose hope of representing Mexico for the second time in a summer tournament.

After moving to LIV Golf in the summer of 2022, the Tamaulipas stopped scoring points to ranking, so it dropped positions in the world ranking

“In this new format we are not awarded points like in the PGA Tour, so I have dropped a lot in terms of positions. Let’s see what happens in the coming months and what the authorities decide about available tickets. I would like nothing more than to represent Mexico again, because it is a feeling that cannot be compared to anything,” commented the Texas native.

Gabriela López, María Fassi, Carlos Ortiz and Ancer were the four golfers who represented Mexico in the Tokyo 2020 tournament. Abraham finished in 14th place.

It was a great experience, although a little unusual due to the pandemic and the lack of public. I would love to be able to attend the Games again with some more compatriots, the joke is to raise Mexico’s name high, he added.

A couple of months ago Ancer won the title at the Pan American Games in Santiago, a prize for the player, who has spent more than five years in the international golf elite.

“I feel very happy with what I have achieved in my career and I do not regret switching to LIV Golf, on the contrary. I consider that I have grown a lot and I have the opportunity to play with rivals who have won Majors”.

Since the return of the discipline to the Olympics, the best players in the world have considered the competition as a Major more, even if it is every four years. The ranking system creates a lot of competition between world powers such as the United States, Great Britain, the United States and South Korea, but also allows other nations a chance to stand out.

God willing and able to achieve that dream, because many of the best players in the world will be in Paris. We just have to wait. Personally, this year I want to continue improving and be more consistent, concluded the player, who will open the season with the LIV Golf Mayakova from February 2 to 4.
