The school has a sports hall for competitive sports such as indoor football, basketball, handball, volleyball, badminton and indoor hockey. During the day, the students of Academy Tien exercise in the sports hall. In addition, the hall can be rented in the evenings and on weekends from 2024. The design is completely in line with an innovative way of education. Not just classrooms, but many meeting places for students, places to learn together and a central hall that is reminiscent of a modern library. In addition, the building is in use from early in the morning to late at night due to the sports hall and the green square. The fact that it also looks beautiful makes it complete.” Suitable new location for Academie Tien Academie Tien is a young and innovative secondary school with a unique vision on education. There is a public square on the roof of the sports hall. The square has lots of greenery, beautiful seating areas and a greenhouse. This makes it a pleasant, cool place in the summer. Students can take a break there. But residents can also use the square, with a view over the neighborhood. There is also room for sports on the square. There will be a basketball court for 3×3 basketball and a panna cage. The square can be used by everyone from April 2024. I am happy with this new sports hall where many Utrecht residents can play sports and exercise. The city is working hard to build new sports halls, because there is a shortage of indoor sports locations. This place, where many young people live and come, is perfect for sports and culture. Seven works of art complete the building Artist Elisabet Stienstra has designed seven works of art, which will be placed on the public square, near the stairs to the square and on and around the school building from the spring of 2024. The bronze statues are inspired by Giulio Camillo’s Memory Theater. This Italian philosopher built a theater that would give visitors access to all the knowledge in the world. Elisabet’s artworks reflect these themes of human growth, dreams, knowledge and wisdom and are in line with the school’s educational vision, which focuses on wonder and personal development. Official opening in the spring The official opening of the school building, Sports Hall Het Plein, the public square and the unveiling of some of the bronze statues will be in April 2024.
