Officials of the Malian Judo and Ju Jitsu Federation were in front of the press on Saturday, December 2, at the headquarters of the National Olympic and Sports Committee of Mali (Cnosm) to shed light on the dismissal of Tiéfing Sissoko, former coach of the national team of judo and Youssouf Diallo, athletes, but also the suspension for 6 months of Boubou Sidibé, 2nd vice-president of the said federation and some athletes from the national team.
The press briefing was moderated by Zoumana Diakité, 3rd vice-president of the Malian Judo and Ju Jitsu Federation, accompanied by Fatou Diall, equipment manager and Moussa Diarra, secretary in charge of communications of the said Federation.
On November 27, the Malian Judo and Ju Jitsu Federation took the decision (n°004-2023/FMJJ) sanctioning certain judo officials and athletes. On this decision, the former coach of the senior team, Tiéfing Sissoko and Youssouf Diallo, athlete, were removed from Malian judo.
On the other hand, the 2nd vice-president Boubou Diallo was suspended for 3 months. In addition to this, five other athletes (Sory Sacko, Mady Sidibé, Ousmane Diallo Douga Théra and Mohamed Théra received a 3-month suspension. It is to provide clarification on this radiation and the suspensions that the officials of the Federation Malian football team organized this press briefing.
According to the 3rd vice-president of the Malian Judo and Ju Jitsu Federation, since the renewal of the federal office in 2021, they have been faced with a number of problems. “The outgoing 2nd vice-president of the office wanted another position, but consensus prevailed. Since he was out of office, he has led several attempts to destabilize our office. He refuses to participate in the activities of the Federation, but also, he refuses that his dojo (Dojo du Camp-Para) participates in Federation competitions. Apart from that, it organizes its own competitions by choosing the dates of our competitions. He even invites national teams from the sub-region to participate in his competitions without informing the federal office. The federal office has called him to order several times, but he continues his actions. As a result, we made the decision to suspend it for 6 months,” he explained.
Regarding the case of the former national team coach, Tiéfing Sissoko, he indicated that he had been appointed by the federal office as coach of the senior national team. “After leading the national team in a few sub-regional and African competitions, we decided to part ways with him because he had become a threat to the athletes. In 2022, he was to bring the senior national team to Morocco to participate in the African Judo Championship. On the eve of his departure, we had information on social networks that the European Union and the Minister of Youth and Sports gave him a certain amount of money to support the team. On his return to Bamako, the federal office decided to question him so that he could provide explanations. He admitted he made mistakes and we told him not to do that kind of thing again. So full of himself, he continued to do isolated actions. After that, the senior national team should participate in the Dakar Open, he came back again to tell us that the number of athletes is not enough that he will add 4 other athletes who will be entirely in his charge. We accepted and once there in Dakar, he brought an invoice for 3000 euros to the head of the delegation for reimbursement. He repeated this type of act and we decided to separate from him”he clarified. “At the end of November, we were surprised to see the photos on social networks of our second vice-president Boubou Sidibé, the former coach Tiéfing Sissoko and the athletes of the national team with the charge d’affaires of the French embassy in Mali. As a result, the office met to issue a press release to dissociate itself from their action. We told him that the national team is under the responsibility of the federal office and that its athletes find themselves at the French embassy without being informed,” he suggested.
For the case of athletes Sory Ibrahim and Youssouf Diallo, Zoumana Diakité explained that Youssouf Diallo is one of our champions, but unfortunately it turns out that the Malian Sambo Federation uses him in competitions without informing them. “Recently, we organized a warm-up competition for our athletes who were to participate in the Dakar Open. Youssouf Diallo came to the room, but refused to participate in the competition. Two days later, he published a photo of himself at President Modibo Kéita Airport in Sénou on his way to Armenia. Immediately, we understood that the two athletes are manipulated by Tiéfing Sissoko and Boubou Sidibé. As a result, the federal office decided to take sanctions against them,” he concluded.
