Tamarindo to Host Triathlon and Beach Volleyball Competitions for 2024 Guanacaste National Sports Games

The triathlon and beach volleyball competitions of the Guanacaste 2024 National Sports Games will take place in Tamarindo, in the Canton of Santa Cruz, one of the most important tourist centers in the province.

According to the Costa Rican Institute of Sports and Recreation (ICODER), the facilities where the delegations of athletes who will seek medals in these sports will be housed will be located at the Liceo de Villarreal, an educational center located just five kilometers from downtown Tamarindo.

The National Sports Council awarded the headquarters of the 2024 National Sports Games to the province of Guanacaste, finals that will be held within the framework of the 200 years of the Annexation of the Nicoya Party to the Free State of Costa Rica on July 24, 1824 .

Hernán Imhoff, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism of Tamarindo (CCTT), highlighted that this town has “more than the necessary conditions to receive the athletes, along with the delegations and leaders of beach volleyball, as well as triathlon.” .

“We will be fully supporting everything within our reach because we are interested in attracting sporting and cultural events that are a perfect complement to expand the menu of options that visitors, national and foreign, can make when they come to the community. In the past we have hosted marathons, athletics and cycling competitions with very good success, so there is already accumulated experience in this field,” highlighted the President of the CCTT.

Along with triathlon and beach volleyball, the canton of Santa Cruz will host the athletics events (Cacique Diriá stadium), Boxing (Liceo de Santa Cruz) and Judo (Municipal Gymnasium).
