Striker Deniz Undav’s Dream of Playing in the European Championship: Will it be with Germany or Turkey?

Striker Deniz Undav from VfB Stuttgart dreams of taking part in the European Championship next summer. “That would mean a lot to me. The only thing missing from my career is the national team,” said the 27-year-old in an interview with Sky. As before, he left it “open” whether this dream should come true with Germany or Turkey.

“What could be better than playing for your country? I would be proud, you couldn’t be prouder,” said Undav, who has both German and Turkish citizenship.

The loan player from Brighton & Hove Albion from the Premier League is an integral part of Stuttgart’s starting eleven, and against Werder Bremen on Saturday (6.30 p.m./Sky), VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß will be playing a double lead with 15-goal man Serhou for the first time Put Guirassy.

“It’s about time. You can’t leave one on the bench. You’ve got two strikers who are doing well right now,” said Undav, who “just gets on blindly” with Guirassy and wants to “rock the league” together. Together, the two attackers have already scored 22 of the Swabians’ 31 Bundesliga goals.

Undav is not yet thinking about returning to Brighton in the summer. “The focus is on VfB. I want to be as successful as possible,” said Undav. He is “definitely not averse to a future in Stuttgart.”
