Sailing plans for Vendée Globe 2024 and Ocean Race 2026

This year, sailor Boris Herrmann has covered more nautical miles than ever before on his yacht Seaexplorer. Now he is planning big things at the upcoming Vendée Globe. But first he has other appointments.

In the days before Christmas, Boris Herrmann is in unfamiliar territory. The best German ocean sailor swaps the cockpit of his Seaexplorer yacht and the vastness of the ocean for the stage and the spotlight. In his hometown of Hamburg and his native Oldenburg, among other places, Herrmann reads in front of hundreds of people from his second book, which was published in November, and reports on dramatic and spectacular experiences on the water as well as his commitment to the race – following the motto “A Race we must win”. Protection of the oceans and their importance for the necessary containment of climate change. For the latter, the 42-year-old father will also be awarded the Federal Order of Merit this Thursday in Hamburg.

Herrmann has a lot to talk about at all of these appointments – after all, in the past year and a half, he and the crew of his Malizia team have sailed well over 50,000 nautical miles around the world on their yacht, which was only completed in mid-2022, and have visited some of the most remote areas on the planet happened and numerous problems were overcome.
