The Dutch national team will stay in Wolfsburg during the European Football Championship next summer. The Dutch team will operate from the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and train at the AOK Stadium, home to the women’s national team and the under-19 team of VfL Wolfsburg.

The Dutch team would first set up base camp in Munich, but because the team of national coach Ronald Koeman plays its group matches in Hamburg, Berlin and Leipzig, Wolfsburg was chosen. The northern German city is centrally located between the three places.

“The combination of the hotel and the training facilities fits perfectly with our wishes,” said Koeman.

“Because we can use the accommodation at VfL Wolfsburg, we have access to a training center that meets all modern requirements. During a tournament you are close to each other for five weeks, so the mutual atmosphere is very important. A good hotel helps with this .”

The Dutch national team will play against the winner of play-off route A on June 16 in Hamburg, against France on June 21 in Leipzig and against Austria on June 25 in Berlin.

Practice matches

Before the European Championship, the Dutch team is still practicing against Scotland and Germany. The match against the Scots is scheduled for March 22, but it is not yet clear where the match will be played and at what time.

Four days later, on March 26, Koeman’s team will play the friendly match against Germany. That match will be played at 8:45 PM in the Wald Stadium in Frankfurt.
