Real Sociedad instructs Villarreal and Mallorca passes Sevilla

Las Palmas extracted oil from Mendizorroza

MADRID, 9 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Sociedad beat Villarreal (0-3) this Saturday on matchday 16 of LaLiga EA Sports with a brilliant first half that brought out the colors of the ‘submarine’, while UD Las Palmas joined the European fight with a 0-1 against Deportivo Alavés and Sevilla sank another little against Mallorca (1-0).

La Real showed Villarreal how far they have moved away from the top positions in just two years, from what is a team with stripes that aspires to Europe. Imanol Alguacil’s men besieged the local team at La Cerámica during the first half and the goals came before the break without remedy or reaction from the yellows.

Jorgensen had work in goal from the first minute and not even Brais Méndez’s injury changed the visitors’ intentions. With Take Kubo unstoppable and a midfield at a high level, Mikel Merino and Martín Zubimendi, the goals came before Real had to remember the missed chances. From set pieces, from a corner kick and from another short ball, Merino and Zubimendi also did the job of goal scorers.

In two minutes, two goals, and a very bad feeling in Villarreal, which could have changed in a double chance by Parejo and Gerard Moreno that Remiro thwarted. As if that were not enough, Real confirmed their script with Kubo’s 0-3 in stoppage time, bad Albiol. In the second half, the ‘txuri-urdin’ lesson was in defense, deactivating every attempt to close the gap, with Remiro also attentive.

A ‘submarine’ that sank when facing a rival that is no longer one of its own was not inspired in the attack either. Almost a month after his arrival, Marcelino continues to accumulate work to reactivate a Villarreal that is not working, he misses the talent that he lost last summer, he fits in a lot and his confidence is low.

Meanwhile, the morning session in Mendizorroza smiled at a Las Palmas that produced oil against an Alavés that deserved more. García Pimienta’s team was overwhelmed by the local intensity and bite, but Luis García Plaza’s team did not have a punch. Álvaro Valles was the best of the Canaries and Kirian Rodríguez scored the goal.

Las Palmas, which with two wins in a row is close to joining the train that fights for European positions, had dominance in the first half but the locals threatened on the counterattack. It was not Samu Omorodion’s day but rather Kirian’s who made it 0-1 with another long-range strike. Alavés tried harder and better in the second act but Kike García couldn’t aim either.

SEVILLA, NINE DAYS WITHOUT WINNING

In the last game on Saturday, Sevilla extended its crisis with a defeat against a Mallorca that celebrated its first victory in Son Moix, the second of the season, to add 14 points and surpass the Andalusians in the table (13). Cyle Larin finally did what was expected of him in Palma, a high-quality goal, with his left foot without thinking about it, like the ones he left during his stellar time at Valladolid.

The Canadian put Javier Aguierre’s team ahead and, from then on, it was enough for the locals to be solid at the back and make a denied rival uncomfortable. In addition to the lack of self-esteem and football, Sevilla was joined by the misfortune of a goal disallowed by Pedrosa at the hour mark due to a touch on Youssef En-Nesyri.

The VAR was not clear but called Alberola Rojas and the referee understood on TV that the ball hit the forward’s arm and not his hip. Sevilla’s other problem was Predrag Rajkovic, who stopped the visitors’ few chances. Diego Alonso did not move his bench and those from Nervión recorded their ninth consecutive day without winning.
