INDER announced the best athletes in Cuba in 2023 as part of a list that covers a wide range of disciplines.
Yarisleydi Cirilo, canoeist, along with the wrestler Luis Orta, the softball player Yilian Tornés, and the beach volleyball player Jorge Luis Alayo, lead this select group.
The list of the best athletes in Cuba only takes into account athletes who belong to the island’s federations, something that leaves out other prominent figures who compete in the MLB or professional boxing circuits, just to mention a few.
The “Individual Sport of the Year” recognition was awarded to wrestling, while beach volleyball emerged as the leader in the team sports category. Highlighting the team made up of Alayo and Noslen Díaz as the best in this discipline.
Cristian Abreu, emerging pelota player, was worthy of the title of “Rookie of the Year”, demonstrating his talent on the sports scene. In addition, the tennis players left a notable mark with their outstanding results and positioned themselves as the most relevant sporting event of the year.
