It was said that the chants insulted certain minorities in society and devalued their existence. In the email, the ÖFB apologized to everyone who felt excluded from the rest of the curve and their dignity disrespected by these chants. Tenor of the fan clubs contacted by the “Krone”: “Of course we condemn such incidents and would intervene immediately. But we haven’t noticed or heard anything about it so far.” The not-so-subtle chants that the fans remember from the Germany game are “If you don’t jump, you’re a jerk”, “The DFB is so in the O.. .” and once quietly “Gay DFB”. When asked by the “Krone”, the ÖFB did not specify the allegations in more detail.
