As the tenth anniversary of the Méribel incident (next December 29th), a journalistic investigation conducted by the German reporter Jens Gideon on behalf of the ARD television broadcaster brings to light two serious errors that would have played a role – unfortunately decisive – in triggering the accident itself and then in the possible worsening of the conditions of the seven-time world champion, who will turn fifty-five on January 3rd. The first would essentially have been committed by Michael himself, venturing off-piste (even if only a few tens of meters) in conditions of insufficient snow, as reported to the journalist by local ski instructors. In fact, Schumacher ended up hitting a large boulder that emerged from the snowy surface. The second would instead be ascribed toincorrect initial assessment of conditions of Schumacher by the rescuers who – in the helicopter rescue operation – would have aimed for the nearest hospital (in Moutiers), and then instead headed for Grenoble, losing precious and potentially decisive minutes.

Meanwhile
Schumacher’s daily life continues to remain a highly armored topicon which on some recent occasions (and with the authorization of the family) the former president of the FIA has offered some insights
Jean Todt, revealing that he attended the broadcast of some Formula One Grands Prix alongside him. Without providing details on the condition of the friend, together with whom (and with the fundamental contribution of
Ross Brawn as Technical Director and
Rory Byrne as designer), Todt himself led the Maranello Scuderia towards a triumphal season that was now twenty years away.
