Report: Jonathan Taylor’s injury timeline

Indianapolis Colts fans should expect a longer timeline for Jonathan Taylor’s return, according to a report Sunday morning.

NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reported that the surgery for a torn UCL in Taylor’s right thumb often requires a three- to five-week recovery period. The Colts hope the timeline is in the two- to three-week range.

Taylor suffered the injury last weekend against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and had surgery a few days later. A five-week recovery would get him back on the field for the season finale against the Houston Texans in early January. The Colts haven’t put Taylor on injured reserve, which requires a four-game absence.

Zack Moss, one of the NFL’s rushing leaders in the season’s opening weeks, becomes the Colts’ starter Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
