Baloncesto Fuenlabrada dismisses its executive president after only four months in office. The club’s board of directors has dismissed Germán Cea and he attributes it to “the disastrous management of the quarry, for which he is solely responsible.” The club also emphasizes in its statement that there are “serious accusations by the mother of a player against her person”, without revealing more details.
Cea has assured in another statement that These accusations are “false, nor are there serious facts attributable to to me, nor is there such a complaint from a mother.” “To try to justify a decision that is the result of the arbitrariness of the members of the council, acting under the direct influence of the honorary president, José Quintana.” Quintana has been president of the club for almost two decades and this summer he stepped down from his position for personal reasons. He remains bound as honorary president, without executive functions or seat on the council.
Cea, in addition, assures that he will file “a criminal complaint against members of the board of directors to clarify the whole truth.” He describes Baloncesto Fuenlabrada’s claims as “absolutely lacking credibility.” In a first statement he also highlighted that “these are false accusations that have the sole objective of displacing me from my responsibilities at the head of the club to protect their personal interests. He also accuses Quintana and Fernando Polaina, president of the council, of “attempt to intimidate with the existence of an alleged accusation against me and, so that it does not come to light, I have to present my immediate resignation and negotiate my departure from the club.”
Cea also assures that “during these months the club’s debt has been refinanced, which has led to short-term solvency and liquidity. We have been able to regularize the payment to suppliers, we have settled the outstanding amounts from last season, which has allowed us to be up to date with payments. Economically, the club has improved significantly.”
Fuenlabrada Basketball, in its statement, alleges “historic disasters in the management of the quarry in just four months”. He directly accuses Cea of “issuing a statement with the sole objective of discrediting the club.” “Actually, what happened was that both members of the Club sent him a serious complaint from the mother of a youth player.
