FC Bayern Intensively Seeking Defensive Reinforcements Ahead of Winter Transfer Window

In the winter, FC Bayern wants to add personnel, especially in defense. The club probably already has a few names on the list.

FC Bayern is currently intensively looking for new players in defense. The focus is on a central defender. According to a “Bild” report, there is still internal discussion as to whether one transfer is enough or even two to three professionals should come in the winter transfer phase. The club therefore has at least three names on the list.

One of the top candidates is Martín Zubimendi from Spanish first division club Real Sociedad San Sebastián. Bayern are apparently working intensively on the defensive player, who can leave in the summer thanks to a release clause worth 60 million euros.

19-year-old Giorgio Scalvini is also said to be on the list. But a transfer would be unrealistic. The Italian international from Atalanta Bergamo has a contract until 2027. According to his club, his potential is huge and Bergamo probably doesn’t want to sell Scalvini. According to “transfermarkt.de”, his market value is 40 million euros.

Clément Lenglet is also in Bayern’s focus. The 28-year-old is currently on loan at Aston Villa from FC Barcelona – and is a regular player. His market value is 10 million euros and is probably more realistic than Scalvini.

FC Bayern’s defense around regular players Dayot Upamecano, Min-jae Kim and Matthijs de Ligt continues to unsettle coach Thomas Tuchel. The central defenders are often injured and are therefore always out due to injuries. A new defensive man seems inevitable.
