Harry Kane proves in the last game before Christmas that he is worth all the money. The FC Bayern striker breaks the next record and is now looking forward to unfamiliar days. He will send his ex-colleagues a photo.

Star striker Harry Kane from FC Bayern is looking forward to the first winter break of his career. “I can hardly wait,” said the 30-year-old Englishman late on Wednesday evening after the 2-1 (2-1) win at VfL Wolfsburg.

At his former club Tottenham Hotspur, the captain of the English national team was used to playing on Boxing Day and around the turn of the year. In the Bundesliga, however, the season does not continue until January 12th with a home game against 1899 Hoffenheim.

“It was a hard four months here without the family, without the children, without my wife. Now I have ten days off, which is just about enjoying time and family,” said Kane, who was bought for around 100 million euros before the season. With a laugh he added: “I’ll send my colleagues in England a photo of me on the beach when they play.”

Kane scored 21 goals in his first 15 Bundesliga games. The previous record for the 21st goal was in the 22nd game – this record was held by the then Dortmund player Erling Haaland, who now plays for Manchester City.

And: Only one player in history has managed 21 goals in the first half of the season; Robert Lewandowski even scored 22 goals in the first half of the season in his record 2020/21 season. Harry Kane can still break this record with two games left in the first half of the season.

Bayern’s offensive player Thomas Müller provided the assist for Kane’s goal as well as Jamal Musiala’s 1-0 goal (33′) – and thus made Kane rave once again. “Big congratulations to Thommy, a fantastic player and a fantastic leader of this team. He is everything you could want in a player and teammate. I’m very happy that he extended. A fantastic game today with the two assists. He sets the standard for everyone! “Even on the training pitch, we push each other,” said Kane.

“Leverkusen is pushing us,” says Kane

Despite these numbers, the defending champions go into the winter break four points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

“We had a very good start to the season. We only lost one game. But Bayer Leverkusen is pushing us,” said Kane. “They have a strong team, they play really good football, they have a great coach. We have no influence on your games. We can’t control what they do. But: We can put pressure on them. We still have a catch-up game in January and we’ll play against them again.”

The Bayern star goes into the new year with high hopes. “We have to keep trying to get better. We still have a lot more left in the tank,” said Kane. “Bundesliga, Champions League – and then also the European Championship here in Germany: there’s a big year ahead of us.”
