Thomas Meunier Expresses Disappointment Over Thibaut Courtois’ Decision to Skip Euro 2024

Thomas Meunier thinks it is a shame that Thibaut Courtois will not be at the European Championships in Germany next year. The 62-time international says this in an interview with the RTBF. “You have to know what you want,” says the 32-year-old right back.

Thomas Meunier is the first Red Devil to respond after Thibaut Courtois pulled out of next year’s European Championship.

“Thibaut has made his choice, it is good that he has been able to apologize publicly,” says his generational colleague in an interview with RTBF.

Meunier regrets that Courtois will not be in charge at EURO 2024. “We can use our best pawns and Thibaut is probably the best goalkeeper in the world. So I find it a bit disappointing,” the experienced right back responds.

Thibaut Courtois is dropping out because he will not be 100 percent in six months after a serious knee injury.

In the interview with Sporza he also targeted Domenico Tedesco. Does the goalkeeper still play under the current national coach?

“I hope he does not definitively close the door for the Red Devils,” answers Thomas Meunier.

“If you want to represent your country, you don’t just do it when it suits you,” says the player of the German top club Borussia Dortmund.

“I hope that Thibaut will retrace his steps. If his rehabilitation goes well and he manages to get on the field faster, why wouldn’t he make himself available for the national team?”

“It would be fantastic,” says Meunier, who has suffered injuries and has been playing again since this month.
