In the home game against Lisbon, the Eintracht Frankfurt players only managed a draw. Laura Freigang misses the possible victory late. A place in the quarter-finals is in the balance.

The Eintracht Frankfurt footballers are threatened with elimination in the group stage of the Champions League. The Bundesliga third-place team only managed a 1-1 (1-0) draw in the home game against Benfica Lisbon on Thursday evening despite being ahead. In stoppage time, Laura Freigang missed a penalty for a possible victory.

Swiss international Géraldine Reuteler brought Eintracht forward in the 28th minute with a deflected shot into the left corner after a through pass from Freigang. Benfica equalized in the 71st minute through substitute Brazilian Nycole Raysla. The hosts dominated the game for a long time in front of 10,200 spectators at Deutsche Bank Park, but missed numerous scoring opportunities and were punished for it.

After the 0-1 defeat in Portugal a week earlier, the Hessians lost the direct comparison with their opponents, who are still in second place in the Group A table after four out of six match days behind defending champions FC Barcelona. Eintracht is still three points behind Benfica in third place. Only the first two teams advance to the quarter-finals of the premier class.
