Aparjod Convinces with Victory in Men’s Luge Competition

In the men’s competition, Aparjod won convincingly, showing the best finishing time in both races. Aparjodas lost by 0.362 seconds, junior Kaspars Rinks took the second place, while the bronze medal went to Gintas Bērziņas.

Rinks won the men’s junior competition, while Roberts Dreimanis came in second.

In the women’s competition, the gold medal was won by Aparjode, who showed the best finishing time in the first race, and second in the second. Silver to Elīna Ieva Vītola, who lost to the winner by only eight thousandths of a second, and bronze to Sigita Bērziņa, who showed the third best finish time in both races.

Kaluma won the women’s junior competition. Katrina Duganova was in second place, while Zanda Ulbika got the bronze.

Bots/Plūme won the men’s two-seater crew competition. Eduard Ševics-Mikelševics/Lūkas Krastas won the silver medal, losing by 0.562 seconds to the winners. On the other hand, Raimonds Baltgalvis/Vitālijs Yegorovs were in the third position, who also won a gold medal as the only crew in the junior competition.

In the competition of women’s two-seater crews, the victory of a crew with a new composition – Upītei/ Kaluma. The second place was Viktorija Ziediņa/Selīna Elizabete Zvilna, and the third was Marta Robežniece/Kitija Bogdanova, these two crews taking first place in the junior competition.

Edvards Marts Markitāns, Margita Sirsniņa, Jānis Gruzdulis-Borovojs/Edens Eduards Čepulis, Margita Sirsniņa/Madara Pavlova, Everts Precinieks, Katrīna Parfenkova, Līna Kraslavska and Renārs Kūkojs celebrated their victories in the other age groups.

81 athletes took part in the competition in age categories from adults to “Youths C”. The national luge sports team was represented by all its members.
