Three New Game Boy Classics Added to Nintendo Switch Online Subscription

With Nintendo Switch Online you now have access to three more games.

Anyone who takes out a Nintendo Switch Online subscription gets access to a number of Nintendo classics from the good old NES, SNES and Game Boy days. You can then play the available titles at no additional cost; you only pay the “normal” subscription fees.

Nintendo regularly adds new games to the service, including in May 2024. You can now play the following Game Boy games:

  • Super Mario Land
  • Alleyway
  • Baseball

The three new free games on Nintendo Switch Online are briefly introduced

Super Mario Land

The Jump&Run is without a doubt an absolute Game Boy legend; many of you will associate it with fond memories of your childhood or youth. In the role of Plumber Mario, you hop through increasingly difficult sections, avoid enemies and overcome abysses and other dangers. The pieces of music in the individual levels also have legendary status and are absolute catchy tunes.

Alleyway

Was a launch title for the Game Boy in 1990 and is basically a pretty basic Breakout clone. You control a bar from left to right and have to bounce a ball so that it destroys blocks in the upper part of the screen. It may not be particularly attractive from today’s perspective, but it’s still a living piece of Game Boy history.

Baseball

Like Alleyway, Baseball was also one of the launch titles for Nintendo’s popular handheld console. As the name suggests, you play baseball according to the classic rules, the title is based on the NES game from 1983. A special feature of the Game Boy version are the guest appearances of Mario and Luigi, who appear as pitchers.

In the trailer you can see scenes from the three titles:
