[배드민턴코리아] A battle between aspiring players who will lead the badminton world in the future, like badminton star Lee Yong-dae, will take place in Hongcheon. The ‘2023 Yongdae Lee Cup Dream Tree Championship’, a badminton competition named after Lee Yong-dae, will be held at the Hongcheon Sports Complex in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do from December 15th to 21st.
There are a total of 384 selected players, consisting of men’s and women’s singles and doubles. 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders participate. Players who participate in singles cannot participate in doubles. (Each person participates in 1 event) The standard for player participation is 16 nationwide. It reflects the ranking of the city/provincial branch boys’ sports competition evaluation match and the priority of player selection for the city/provincial branch self-evaluation match.
This competition, which is being held for the first time this year, is special because it allows you to see the childhood games of players who will later have an influence on the Korean badminton world. These are young players who are not yet 100%, but if you have fun imagining how amazing the results they will achieve in the future above 100% will be, you can enjoy watching the game even more. The Dream Tree Championship, which will be the beginning of a player’s career and a precious memory for the players, is an opportunity to get a glimpse of the bright future of badminton in Korea.
Expectations are rising as to who will take the title of ‘Lee Yong-dae Junior’.
This competition for children who dream of becoming Lee Yong-dae, the eternal idol produced by Korean badminton, is hosted by the Korea Elementary Badminton Federation and the Lee Yong-dae Scholarship Foundation and organized by the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Badminton Association, Hongcheon Sports Council, and Hongcheon-gun Badminton Association.
