Ahn Se-young, our badminton signboard, won the gold medal in singles at the world championships for the first time as a Korean player. Ahn Se-young wrote a new history of badminton in Korea, boasting a tremendous skill of scoring 11 consecutive goals despite the pressure of the final.

Ahn Se-young took the first set comfortably against Rio Olympic gold medalist Carolina Marin.

Marin’s counterattack in the second set allowed a 10-10 tie, but world No. 1 Ahn Se-young’s potential shone even more in the crisis.

With the ‘suffocating defense’ that blocks Marine’s attack like a god, they confirmed the championship with an amazing concentration of 11 consecutive points.

The first Korean player to win a world championship singles gold medal. It is a new history of badminton in Korea that even Olympic gold medalist Bang Soo-hyun could not achieve.
