Yves Vanderhaeghe is no longer the coach of the Saudi second division club Al-Faisaly. Our compatriot had been working in the Middle East since July.
The Saudi adventure of Yves Vanderhaeghe (53) turns out to be short-lived. Our compatriot had been working for the second division club Al-Faisaly for 5 months and now has to clear his desk.
“The club’s management has decided to terminate the contract in mutual consultation with Vanderhaeghe. We would like to thank him and his technical staff for their period with the team,” the club said.
After 10 match days, Al-Faisaly is in a creditable 5th place, just 6 points from the top 3, which entitles them to promotion. Vanderhaeghe also managed to guide his team to the quarter-finals of the cup, where a duel with Karim Benzema’s Al-Ittihad awaited.
The results proved not to be sufficient for the Saudi board, which quickly found a successor with the Brazilian Marcelo Chamusca (57).
