Serious home defeat for the Under 19s of PFV by the league leader Arona Basket who prevailed on the pitch of the Pertini school gym 35-68.

As can be guessed from the final score, the match did not have a great story, also given the poor approach of the Vercelli team who immediately suffered a ten point difference (9-19 in the first quarter) finding it very difficult to shoot and suffering as well as the physical and aggressive play of the opponents.

In the second period things were even worse and Arona, who also played his honest game, actually closed the game already halfway through the match (15-40).

In the third period PFV’s withdrawal crisis continued and Anastasio’s girls managed to score only three points, finishing in the 30th minute at 18-64.

The last ten minutes, however, saw the awakening of the Vercelli team who, with a good run of 17-4, reduced the gap of points in the final score a bit, perhaps aided by Arona who finally pulled the oars.

It was certainly not a good performance for coach Anastasio’s girls, as they could have done more and conceded less, perhaps facing the match with a slightly less submissive spirit, even taking into account the caliber of the visiting team.

The next Under 19 round will be Monday 4 December at 7.30 pm, same field as the Pertini Middle School, against Derthona Basket, another opponent fighting for the lead.

Under 17

1st phase – Qualification

Group C – 2nd day of return

Vercelli – Palapiacco – Sunday 26.11.2023 at 3.30 pm

Vercelli Women’s Basketball – Biella Women’s Basketball 52-46

(Partials: 16-11; 29-21; 40-33; 52-46)

PFV scoreboard: Tagliabue; Haxhiasis; Giorgi 8; French E.3; Prinetti 23; Dipace 9; Nicosia; Horses 2; Bari H ; Rizzato 7. Coach Gianfranco Anastasio

The Under 17 team of PFV won the “derby” of the 2nd return day of the qualifying round by beating Basket Femminile Biellese 52-46, at the end of a hard-fought match that was decided only in the final minutes in which, however, the The Vercelli team did well to keep the lead in the match for its entire duration, thus building their victory.

The start was good and PFV (led by Prinetti who seemed infallible in the first 20′) immediately took the lead, winning the first quarter 16-11. In the second, Anastasio’s girls even exceeded the lead by 13 points, showing good game patterns in the offensive phase, even if they conceded a little too much in defense.

At half-time the score was 29-21 and PFV, despite always giving the impression of being able to make the decisive attack, each time committed some trivial error in attack, or conceded easy baskets, so that the guests always managed to stay within distance.

The same script was also played out in the third period, in which Biella recovered points but was then pushed back further, making it clear that they would not give up until the end.

The third period closed 40-33, in the last the guests played everything and thanks also to a decline of the home team, who began to report the tiredness of a match always conducted on boarding, moreover with incomplete ranks (still Dikrane out and Giuliani out at the last moment too) with 2′ remaining at -2 at 42-40.

But at this point coach Anastasio called a time out and managed to get a very judicious final management of the match from his girls, keeping the ball and getting some precious free throws which Dipace, Francese and Prinetti exploited well, with Giorgi who, on a nice counterattack , scored the decisive points for the final 52-46.

All in all it was a good victory, both difficult at the end and deserved for how the girls were able to interpret the match and for their commitment, which never fails.

In the next round the Under 17 will be stopped because the scheduled match has been postponed to December 23rd at the Palapiacco at 7.30 pm, against Derthona Basket.

The Under 15s of PFV lost 77-43 away against Basket Venaria and, perhaps because they were forced to play at 11.15 on Saturday morning, moreover away from home and therefore with a trip in between, they remained a bit with their mind under the covers approaching the match rather badly and finishing immediately behind in the first quarter 27-5.

It is true that in the second period things normalized and the Vercelli team managed to recover a few points (38-22 at half), leaving hope for a possible comeback in the second part of the match, but in vain for the final result.

In the third period, however, the hosts were still rampant, thanks to a very aggressive defense that was poorly tolerated by PFV, thus taking a 61-30 lead and, in fact, closing the match.

In the last period, with a partial score in balance (16-13), it was absolutely not possible for Davide Simone’s young players to straighten the match, so they had to inevitably succumb with a score (77-43) perhaps even too heavy compared to the values that were seen on the field.

The Under 15s will return to play on Saturday 2.12 pm at Vercelli Palapiacco, 3.30 pm against Eteila Basket of Aosta.

All.re Davide SimoneLarga victory for the very young Under 14s of PFV who, on the pitch of the gym of the Pertini Middle School, easily beat the Polisportiva Reba of Turin 84-44, with a score that leaves no doubt as to which the team that dominated the match.

The Vercelli team started a little quietly, leading 18-13 in the first period, without being able to shake off their opponents who remained in the game.

In fact, the first move took place only in the second quarter, with a peremptory +15 that left the Turin team with no chance and meant that the first half of the match ended with PFV leading 43-23 with a good chance of winning the game. up for grabs.

In the second half, another advance by the hosts who, at three quarters of the match, led 66-34, effectively closing the match, which was then easily managed until the final 84-44.

Overall a very good match, in which coach Simone’s girls were able to capitalize better than usual on the many opportunities that were created with good game maneuvers.

Next week’s round for the U14s has been postponed to 12.20.2023 at 7.00 pm in Venaria.
