Vitesse’s Financial Affairs Under Pressure: Russian Owner’s Alleged Lies About Abramovich Loan

The pressure on the financial affairs of Vitesse, with regard to the American takeover, is increasing further. Valeri Oyf, the last Russian owner of the Arnhem club, is said to have lied to the KNVB about the fact that he borrowed money from Roman Abramovich.

Oyf denied to the Dutch Football Association that he borrowed a sum of money from former Chelsea owner Abramovich. The friendly oligarch provided the then Vitesse owner with an amount of ten million dollars. An international research platform, based in the Netherlands NRC, Fidelity in The Finincieele Dagblad are affiliated, have 3.6 million leaked documents from Cyprus.

Opposite NRC in Fidelity Oyf confirms Abramovich’s payments. An amount of ten million dollars was borrowed in August 2020 through Matteson Overseas, the company with which he took over Vitesse, and Sonora Capital Investments, a firm of Abramovich. Oyf tells the newspapers that $2.9 million of the ten million dollars has been used. The money was needed for ‘liquidity reasons’.

Vitesse and the KNVB said in a response that they were not aware of the payments. “The KNVB considers it very important that the licensing committee receives the documents,” the football association said NRC in Fidelity. Abramovich has not yet commented on the events.
