Veolia Towers Hamburg Suffers Another Home Defeat in Basketball Eurocup

The Veolia Towers Hamburg suffered another home defeat in the Basketball Eurocup. On Tuesday evening, coach Benka Barloschky’s team lost to newcomers BC Wolves Vilnius from Lithuania 71:84 (37:47) in the Inselparkhalle. For Hamburg it was their fourth home defeat in this competition and their seventh defeat in their eighth game. The best thrower for the hosts was Mark Hughes with 14 points.

Hamburg completely missed the start of the game. After just under four minutes, William Christmas scored the first goal with a free throw to make it 1:15.

As the game progressed, the hosts improved and reduced the deficit to eight points by the end of the first quarter. The second half of the game was more even. The Towers saved the chance to turn things around.

However, the Lithuanians remained the more effective team in the third period and extended their lead. Hamburg were no longer able to increase the pressure in the final quarter and avoid defeat.
