University of Konstanz Hosts Largest National Judo Tournament in 2023

On November 4th and 5th, the University of Konstanz hosted the German University Championships (DHM) Judo in the Schänzle sports hall. Almost 500 athletes from a total of 98 universities in Germany, Switzerland and Austria took part in the competitions, making the event the largest national judo tournament for adults in 2023. The DHM also served as a qualifying competition for the German Individual Championship of the German Judo Federation and the European University Games 2024.

(Newcomer) Mixed-Format

This year, in addition to the mixed teams introduced in 2022, there were fights in the newcomer mixed team for the first time. The introduction of this format and the associated opportunity to gain combat experience enjoyed a positive response and enabled even more judoka to take part. WG Köln I secured the winner’s cup in both formats.

Successful participants from Hanover

In addition to the exciting fights in (newcomer) mixed teams, the two judoka from Hanover were able to secure the silver and gold medals in the individual fights: Gerrit Noack from Hannover University of Applied Sciences made it to first place and is therefore the new German university champion. Tamara Ohl from Leibniz University took second place in her weight class. We congratulate you on these successes!
