The Professional Baseball League of the Dominican Republic (LIDOM) makes a special trip starting this Friday when the Tigres del Licey face the Águilas Cibaeñas at Citi Field in New York, the two biggest rivals of winter ball against face to face on a Major League stage. Here we tell you where to watch today’s game LIVE.

How do they get there?

Licey and Águilas face each other again on US soil with three exhibition games in one of the cities with the largest Dominican population, New York. Both met during the 2015 Americas Series, a mini tournament held at Marlins Park in Miami along with two more teams from Venezuela in which the Aguiluchos were champions after beating the Tigres del Licey and the Cardenales de Lara.

However, things have not looked all that good for the Águilas who travel to these three games with an active streak of eight losses in a row in the LIDOM, their worst streak since at least 2006 when the league began reporting to the base of data from the Majors.

Even with the arrival of Tony Peña as the new manager, the Santiago-based club has not been able to get off the ground and their 5-13 record in the fall-winter tournament has them deep in the standings.

The series could be a turning point for the Águilas Cibaeñas, taking advantage of the fact that the three games will not be valid for the tournament, in addition to having a couple of important additions led by big leaguer Christopher Morel, the star rookie of the Chicago Cubs who is available on the roster of 39 players announced by management, 17 of them as relievers.

Los Tigres del Licey, for its part, remains in second place in the standings with a record of 10-8. One day after the Estrellas Orientales ruined their 116th anniversary celebration by throwing a no-hitter at the Quisqueya “Juan Marichal” Stadium in Santo Domingo, the blue team took revenge with their next rival being the spoilsport of the Gigantes del Cibao, who hosted the last game of Nelson Cruz’s active playing career.

In the local tournament, the Tigers have a 7-1 record on the road, a figure that places them as strong favorites in the cold of the “City that never sleeps.”
