Around thirty exhibitors responded to the invitation from the Riou association
On November 26, La Mure Argens (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) celebrated the twentieth anniversary of its Christmas market! The program began with mass at the church… For the occasion, the Godayol couple had set up the crèche, which is always pleasant for visitors. Meanwhile, the stands were set up under a fairly cool temperature, autumn ushering in these first days of negative temperatures. The visiting public was able to appreciate the products of local culture by Frédéric Mistral, but also the works of the Pléiades bookstore in Colmars-les-Alpes, activities such as archery demonstrations, spinning and some stands of artists… For this twentieth edition, Franky also invited activities for young people with the games stand, but also walks in the village with Émilie (Séol’ânes), a success always assured. The firefighters’ stand offered the 2024 calendars with series of very nice and funny photos. “The homestay visit will begin,” they told us, “and we will be present at the Christmas market in Saint-André-les-Alpes.”
Santa Claus was of course present and in great shape to distribute treats to the young audience present. Around noon, it’s the long-awaited moment with a friendly drink and the sharing of dishes from the wood-fired oven that arrived from the Grand-Rue. The trio Franky, Carmelo and Dominique had passionately prepared the wood-fired oven for the bread releases. Each arrival of the bread cart was stormed, which clearly proves the quality of the work of our volunteer bakers. The most anticipated moment was of course the aperitif on the church square, where everyone was gathered in large numbers under the beautiful sun.
The president of the Le Riou association, Franky Trapolino, will take the microphone for the usual thanks. He asked us to applaud the work and motivation of former president Pierre Hurtevent who, 20 years ago, had planned this Christmas market. An event that has spread across our territory to currently be present in most of our CCAPV villages, to the delight of residents and visitors alike!
