German Athletes and Referee Katharina Marzok Prepare for Grand Slam in Tokyo

Four men and five women will compete at the Grand Slam in Tokyo. Eduard Trippel will be competing on the tatami again for the first time since his injury. The current European champion U23, Samira Bock, and the vice-European champion U23, Raffaela Igl, are also at the start. U23 European Championship fifth-place finisher Jano Rübo as well as David Ickes and Fabian Kansy are also flying to the motherland of judo as other U23 European Championship athletes.
Everyone will fight for qualification points for the Olympic ranking and enjoy the special atmosphere at judo competitions in Japan.

For Katharina Marzok, the Grand Slam in Tokyo is another highlight of her refereeing career. She was nominated by the IJF for her outstanding performance in recent months. “This will be a special highlight for me,” she says in advance. “That has always been my big goal, because then I will be at the top and a little closer to my big dream: the Olympics,” she gives insight into her emotional world. “Being able to referee in the motherland of judo is a dream and a special challenge for every referee. “The German judges wish Katharina a good hand and are happy with her about this great end to the year,” says DJB federal referee officer Stephan Bode, giving her all the best wishes.
