Tony Ensor (Oyonnax) forced to end his career

This is a real blow for Tony Ensor. The New Zealand fullback (32 years old) was forced to prematurely end his career for medical reasons, his club Oyonnax announced on Tuesday. Victim of a concussion during the defeat on the pitch at Stade Français at the end of last August (28-18), the New Zealand fullback had not played a single minute since.

“Tony will remain supportive of the group, safe and off the pitch. Even though he can no longer play, we still consider him a full member of the group,” said his manager Joe El Abd. Trained in Otago and played by the Highlanders in Super Rugby, Ensor made his Top 14 debut with Stade français in 2017.

Arriving in Haut-Bugey in 2019, he wore the Oyonnaxian tunic for five years, playing 63 matches and scoring 11 tries. He was also crowned French Pro D2 champion last season.
