The Argentine fan who had been detained at the Maracaná was released this Friday after three days for an alleged racist insult to a stadium security employee. This is Belén Mateucci, a woman who usually follows the National Team and River. She has already regained her freedom and she was transferred to Copacabana where she was reunited with a group of friends.

Mateucci had been arrested last Tuesday at halftime of the match that Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 at the Maracaná for the South American Qualifiers. The woman would have had an argument with a drinks seller who would not have wanted to serve her because she had the Argentina shirt.

The National Team fan was allegedly insulted by the saleswoman until a member of the private security company that was working on prevention at the Maracaná intervened. Mateucci is accused of having told him “piece of monkey” to the security employee for which she was arrested accused of the crime of racial insult.
