The Fifth Municipality Honors Silvio Di Francia with House of Culture Dedication

A few months after his death, the fifth municipality dedicated the current House of Culture in via Casilina to Silvio Di Francia, journalist, athlete and politician who had held the role of councilor for culture in the municipality of Rome with Francesco Rutelli and Walter Veltroni, the naming ceremony will take place today at 6.30 pm at Villa De Sanctis, in via Casilina 665. «Our – declares the president of the V municipality Mauro Caliste – represents a significant tribute to a prominent figure who contributed significantly to the cultural and sporting growth of our city. Silvio Di Francia has left an indelible mark on the world of promoting sporting activities and community cultural life, and this initiative aims to preserve and celebrate his extraordinary legacy. This solemn and significant occasion, in the presence of the Mayor, family and authorities, in which we pay homage to Silvio Di Francia, is a moment to strengthen our commitment to promoting culture and memory in our City.”

Di Francia, former president of Zetema, a company that manages the Roman museum system and organizes cultural projects, was councilor for cultural policies of the municipality of Latina from 2018 to 2020. In 2020 he was diagnosed with primary lateral sclerosis, a degenerative disease, which does not gave him an escape. Silvio Di Francia was a person who loved music and literature, attentive to social issues, practiced judo (he had also become Italian champion and had been called up to the national team) so much so that he became a prominent person in the Federation and held the position of president of the Committee regional Lazio of Fijlkam (Italian Federation of Judo, Wrestling and Karate).
