Significant Discovery: Thousands of Ancient Bronze Coins Unearthed in Italy’s Sardinia

Italy. (Vanguard of Veracruz).- In the Italian sea, between 30,000 and 50,000 bronze coins were discovered, known as follis, which date from the first half of the 4th century AD.

The coins, according to the Italian Ministry of Culture, were found at a shallow depth, near Arzachena, in the northeast of the Italian island of Sardinia, and they assume that this is one of the most important discoveries.

According to the Ministry of Culture, based on the total weight, the number of bronze coins would be between 30 thousand and 50 thousand copies, “many more, therefore, than those found in 2013 in the United Kingdom, in Seaton, when 22,888 folli resurfaceds”.

The discovery was made by several people during a dive, who managed to see some metal remains at a shallow depth, not far from the coast, and the next day the experts from the Superintendency of Archeology and the Carabineros went to the area and located two large areas where the coins had been deposited.

In addition to noting that all the coins are in a perfect state of exceptional and rare conservation, the government entity noted.
