After some successful Pan American Games Santiago 2023now comes the turn of the Parapanamericanoswhich officially started last Friday, October 17 with the opening ceremony at the National Stadiumand that will extend until the domingo 26.
There will be 17 sports, where the Team ParaChile will compete with 166 athletes;the largest delegation in its history and that far exceeds the 85 present at Lima 2019where 33 medals were won, of which 1 were gold.
The national team will have an absolute premiere in some sports of the continental competition, these are: Cerebral palsy football, goalball, judo, Para archery, Para taekwondo and Para sports shooting.
Those called to highlight and main figures of Chile are Alberto Abarza and Vicente Almonacid (both in Para swimming), Francisca Mardones and Cristián Valenzuela (For athletics), Juan Carlos Garrido (Para powerlifting) y Mariana Zuniga (For archery).
These athletes plus the rest of the national delegation, apart from the medals awarded by each discipline, will also seek the Paralympic quotas provided by the competition for Paris 2024.
