Sakura Judo Club: A National Powerhouse in Spanish Judo

The Sakura Judo Club of Torrejón de Ardoz is confirmed as one of the great national references of this sport. Their judokas have achieved a total of 8 medals in the Spanish Cup and Super Cup. Furthermore, in the European Cup in Malaga, which was held on October 12, Alba Juan came in fifth place at -57 kilos.

Regarding the medals achieved in the Spanish Cup at the absolute level, Diego Tabuenca was runner-up in -66 kilos, while Sandra Manso took bronze in -48 kilos and Alba Juan was also bronze in -57 kilos.

On the other hand, in the absolute Spanish Super Cup, Alba Juan once again stood on the podium, this time as champion, while Diego Tabuenca also won a repeat medal, although this time it was bronze.

Finally, Club Sakura’s successes are completed with three more medals in the Spanish Children’s Super Cup. Claudia Beltrán became champion at -63 kilos; Carolina Caro was silver in -52 kilos and Valeria Gallardo was third in -44 kilos.

“Congratulations for all these medals that you have achieved in two high-level competitions such as the Cup and the Spanish Super Cup, where the best judokas in our country meet and where you have left the name of Torrejón de Ardoz high” , highlighted the mayor, Alejandro Navarro Prieto.

For his part, the Councilor for Sports and Mobility, José Miguel Martín Criado, added that “in Torrejón de Ardoz we have great clubs and great athletes in different disciplines and judo is one of them, since it always gives us a lot of joy.”
