Sabres Defeat Penguins 3-2, Girgenson Out with Injury

It has already been reported that the “Sabres” defeated the Pittsburgh “Penguins” at home with a score of 3:2 (0:1, 0:1, 3:0), giving their opponents their fourth loss in the last five games.

In this match, the Latvian forward spent six minutes and 35 seconds on the ice, during which he scored once, used one power play and accumulated a neutral efficiency ratio. He suffered a lower body injury in the second period and did not go on the ice for the last 20 minutes of the game.

Girgenson’s return to the field is expected no sooner than a week, but it is likely to be a matter of several weeks, the club reported, without elaborating on the injury.

The Latvian striker is included in the list of injured players.

The Sabers also announced that forward Jordan Greenway will not play for some time due to personal reasons.

In place of both forwards, Swede Izaak Rusen and Czech Jiri Kulich were called up from Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

The Sabers are 10th in the Eastern Conference with 20 points in 20 games and will play their next game on Saturday when they face the New Jersey Devils.
