NBA Star Luka Doncic and Others Complain About Slippery and Colorful New Orleans Floor

NBA – It slips and it doesn’t bounce the ball well, in addition to being very colorful: the Slovenian star complained about the floor in New Orleans.

Between Luka Doncic, the Mavericks and the new floors installed for the NBA tournament, it’s already a long and tormented story. To begin with, there was this 3-point line problem in Denver at the beginning of the month. Then, the Dallas franchise was unable to host the Clippers with a special floor, the fault of a “ manufacturing problem » explained the NBA.

Third episode in New Orleans, with its purple and green parquet floors. The Pelicans won this meeting and Luka Doncic hardly shone, with only 16 points at 5/16 shooting and above all 8 lost balls.

“Besides the colors, the parquet flooring was really bad,” the Slovenian bluntly asserts for the Dallas Morning News. “It was really slippery, especially in the racket, and in some places the ball didn’t bounce well. So if we have to play on these floors, it would be good to make sure that they are stable, that we can play on them. Like in Dallas, where he wasn’t good, so we changed him. »

Two matches on special floors, two defeats

The Mavericks All-Star is not convinced by these new floors. He is not the only one since Tim Hardaway Jr. and Grant Williams seem to agree with their teammate, even if they are less virulent.

“No matter what I say about it, they’re not going to change it. So rain or shine, it doesn’t matter. It’s still basketball. They kicked our butts,”

says the winger. “It’s the first year, so there are bound to be problems,” comments the interior. “It’s new, you have to get used to it. »

But as the two teams are playing in the same conditions, Jason Kidd did not want to use it to explain the poor performance of his troops (a defeat with 131 points conceded, 20 lost balls and 33% success at 3-pts ), who lost both of their away tournament matches this season.

“It’s the players who play, so it’s a question for them. I find that the floors are difficult to watch on television, the league has gone too far in that direction,” judges the Texan coach. “But we don’t use the floor as an excuse so we don’t say that it is the latter which justifies our lost balls. You have to give credit to the Pelicans, they gave their all. We had problems with the floor, but it’s too late. »
