NBA Recap: Suns Defeat Pistons 120-106 Behind Kevin Durant’s 41 Points

NBA – Still deprived of Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, the Suns return to victory on the floor of Detroit (120-106). Thanks to Kevin Durant’s 41 points.

Still no Devin Booker or Bradley Beal for the Suns, who travel to Detroit to try to end their series of three consecutive losses. While the Pistons also remain on three losses in a row…

The problems of the two teams are different, with an Arizona team which is aiming for the title but awaiting the return of its two All-Stars to display its true level, and a Michigan team which is without a few veterans (Bojan Bogdanovic, Monte Morris…) and seeks for its part to build solid foundations for the future.

The play on both sides is in any case quite messy in this first half. Both teams want to play and attack the opponent quickly, but it is stereotypical with a Kevin Durant who systematically looks for his shot, even if it means forcing, and a Cade Cunningham who alternates the good one, with feints which allow him to approaching the circle, and the worst, with ball losses in blocked spaces where he got stuck.

Fortunately for Phoenix, Eric Gordon is valuable, especially when Kevin Durant is resting. The former Rockets and Clippers 6th man is the closest thing to a leader in this Phoenix lineup.

Under his leadership, the Suns took off and ultimately never let go. Because Kevin Durant remains a top offensive machine, especially when he finds rhythm and space. Enough to dismiss (120-106) this young Detroit team, too disordered despite its good will and its desire to play hard.

Like the elbow strike, more clumsy than mean, from Jalen Duren which earned him an expulsion.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

– Ball to Kevin Durant. While awaiting the returns of Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, the Suns are betting everything on Kevin Durant, who generally constitutes the team’s offensive strategy. Enough to beat the Pistons but we must hope that his two friends come back quickly to quickly offer more…

– The indiscipline of the Pistons.

Faced with such a clear opposing strategy, Detroit clearly had a chance to play, but the young Pistons made (again) too many mistakes, particularly on opposing jumpshots. Often confusing speed and haste, in attack and defense, they never achieved the run they hoped for.

TOPS/FLOPS

Eric Gordon. Kevin Durant carried the Phoenix attack but it was Eric Gordon who made it run the best. 21 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds and the best +/- of the match (+23). Not a coincidence.

Marcus Sasser. Like his teammates, he sometimes played too fast. But in line with his match against the Pelicans, he brought punch to the scoring, with 22 points at 9/16 shooting, including 4/6 from distance.

✅⛔️ The duo Cade Cunningham – Jalen Duren. The tandem did not really miss their match but, forced to play in closed spaces, with opponents waiting for them, they lost a lot of balls (11) and did not manage to give rhythm to their team. And the pivot was even expelled.
