During the 2023-24 season, Mitchell reportedly expressed frustration with certain teammates’ immaturity, lack of focus and readiness for playoffs, and their unwillingness to listen, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.

According to Fedor, Mitchell has frequently expressed his contentment with being in Cleveland and his satisfaction with his current situation. However, if he is not willing to commit to a contract extension, the Cavaliers may consider trading him during the upcoming offseason.

In the 2023-24 season, Donovan Mitchell, the All-Star guard for the Cleveland Cavaliers, had a phenomenal year individually. However, as he prepares to start the last year of his current contract, there are reports of him expressing frustration behind the scenes.

Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers finished their regular season with a record of 48-34, clinching the No. 4 spot in the Eastern Conference. Despite defeating the Orlando Magic in the opening round of the playoffs, they ultimately lost 4-1 to the No. 1 seeded Boston Celtics in the second round.

In the current season, the player, who is 27 years old, had an average of 26.6 points, 6.1 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 3.3 three-pointers made, and 1.8 steals per game. However, he faced issues due to injuries and was only able to participate in 55 games during the regular season.

During his time with the Cavaliers, Mitchell has faced comparable challenges, leading to speculation about his desire to decline his contract and enter the free agent market in 2024-25 instead of agreeing to an extension.

During his time in Utah, Mitchell led the team to the playoffs for five consecutive years. However, they were only able to advance to the second round and were eliminated from the first round three times. This lack of success in the playoffs played a significant role in his eventual trade to Cleveland.

The Cavaliers lack playoff experience and have a largely young roster aside from Mitchell. The team’s top players include Allen, Darius Garland, and Evan Mobley, all of whom were under 25 at the start of the season.

For the last two seasons, Mitchell has played for the Cavaliers after being traded from the Utah Jazz. He has been selected as an All-Star in both seasons with Cleveland.

It is very likely that as they continue to develop and gain more knowledge, they will become a formidable presence in playoff scenarios. However, due to their condition being far from optimal, they were unable to compete against the Celtics, who had the best record of 64 wins in the NBA regular season.

On Wednesday, Mitchell was absent from the crucial Game 5 against the Celtics due to a strained calf. In addition, Allen and LeVert were also injured, leaving Cleveland unable to compete with the strong Celtics. As a result, they lost 113-98 and their season came to an end.

In 10 playoff games, Spida achieved an average of 29.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. His performance played a significant role in the Cavaliers’ first playoff series win since LeBron James’ departure in 2018.
