Nagelsmann and Turkey: A back four is a back four – right? – Sports

National coach Julian Nagelsmann had actually announced an approach to the game that should be “not so complex”. So why did he draw up a match plan in the 2-3 win against Turkey that overwhelmed some players?

Some guests in the Berlin Olympic Stadium were perhaps a little surprised that Benjamin Henrichs continued playing after the break. Wasn’t Henrichs criminally responsible for the two goals that turned Germany’s 1-0 lead into a Turkish 2-1 lead? Wasn’t he the right-back who was always not there when he was urgently needed? Wasn’t the right-wing German defense the gateway for the most dangerous Turkish attacks? That’s pretty much what you could think if you didn’t have slow motion at hand.
