Michael Jung defended his lead in the cross-country eventing at the German Eventing Championships in Luhmühlen. Julia Krajewski made a big leap forward on Saturday. NDR is broadcasting the decision live today.

Jung and Chipmunk are just ahead of Briton Laura Collett and London 52 in the international four-star competition, which is also considered the German championship. The rider from Horb has 26.1 penalty points, three tenths ahead of Collett (26.4). Her compatriot and world champion Yasmin Ingham and Banzai du Loir (29.3) are in third place.

Krajewski improves significantly

“It was just pure joy. Chipmunk went really well,” said a delighted Jung, who, like the other German starters, received praise from national coach Peter Thomsen: “I am proud of the German riders and the horses. They did a great job.”

Defending champion Julia Krajewski is in fifth place overall and second place in the championship rankings before the decisive jump, having moved up from eleventh place with Nickel (31.7). “Nickel was great today,” said the Olympic champion from Tokyo.
