Minister of Youth and Sports Here Ariotedjo explained preparations for Indonesia’s mainstay sports that will appear at the Olympics, including badminton.

Dito explained PBSI as the parent organization for Indonesian badminton has reported regarding the failure to bring home a medal from the 2023 Asian Games.

Due to the negative results at the Asian Games, PBSI received the spotlight. Dito explained that PBSI had taken an important decision.

“That’s why after the Asian Games, PBSI immediately reported to us with all their internal problems. They apologized and admitted they were wrong, but immediately took quick steps to create an Olympic preparation task force led by the Secretary General. [PBSI] “If I’m not mistaken, Mr Fadil Imran,” said Dito when met at the Vice President’s Palace, Monday (20/11).

“And I see from the reports that it seems that the task force has embraced all stakeholders, including former Olympians, as well as coaches and all parties who can support badminton,” continued Dito.

In the badminton sport, there is no certainty about who will appear at the Olympics because until now the athletes are still taking part in a series of tournaments that are included in the race to the Olympics agenda or competing for tickets to the biggest sporting event.

While preparing for other sports that will compete in the Olympics, Dito explained that the Ministry of Youth and Sports already has a long-term program for branches with medal potential.

So far, the Indonesian athletes who have been confirmed to have received tickets to appear at the Olimipade are Rifda Irfanalutfi from gymnastics, Arif Dwi Pangestu and Diananda Choirunissa from archery, and DESAK Made Rita and Rahmad Adi Mulyono from sport climbing.
