Former Bayern professional Arturo Vidal, now active at Brazilian first division club Athletico Paranaense, criticized Manchester United’s youngster Alejandro Garnacho for his celebration after his dream goal against Everton on Sunday.
In United’s 3-0 win at Everton, Garnacho gave the Red Devils the lead in the third minute with an incredible overhead kick. He then ran to the corner flag and celebrated his goal with the famous SIIIII celebration from his role model Ronaldo.
“The only negative or the only thing I can’t understand: Why does he party like Cristiano?” wondered Vidal on Twitch (quoted via The Metro). “He has to make his own name. He’s a great player and it’s good that he (Ronaldo, editor) is his idol, respect for that. But he still has to make a name for himself.”
Vidal, who played for Bayern from 2015 to 2018 and has also been under contract with Barcelona, Juventus and Leverkusen during his career, said: “How do you celebrate a goal to remember it? I don’t know, But just cheer differently.”
Nevertheless, Garnacho of course scored “a great goal,” emphasized the Chilean midfielder.
Garnacho moved from Atlético Madrid to Manchester’s youth team in 2020 at the age of 16.
Last season, the 19-year-old Argentine made his breakthrough in United’s first team. Garnacho has appeared in 17 competitive games so far this season, and the dream goal against Everton was his second goal of the season in all competitions.
