A variety of snack products are seen at the Bandung Kunafe shop, a souvenir center in Soreang, Bandung Regency, West Java, Friday (10/11/2023). A total of 2,000 small and medium business actors from Bandung Regency market culinary products to handicrafts in Bandung Kunafe.

Not only were young players from a number of countries competing in the U-17 World Cup, MSME players from Bandung Regency, West Java, also showed off. Like a football team, the results are not enjoyed by the business owner alone. The workers who fight with them will feel the benefits.

Husband and wife couple, Pratama Anggi Wibowo (30) and Intan Ratnawati, confidently enter the Bandung Kunafe shop in Soreang, Bandung Regency, Friday (10/11/2023) afternoon. They brought hundreds of packs of cheese stick snacks with three flavors to leave at the gift shop located next to the Sabilulungan Cultural Building (GBS).

GBS is vital during the U-17 World Cup in Bandung on 11-21 November. Its existence is a center for feeder buses or spectator shuttles to the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, where the match will be held.

“We plan to supply up to 5,000 packs of various snack products during the U-17 World Cup. “The target is to get around IDR 100 million,” said Pratama.

One of the MSME actors supplies his selling products at the Bandung Kunafe souvenir center, Soreang, Bandung Regency, West Java, Friday (10/11/2023). This effort is in preparation for welcoming the U-17 World Cup in Bandung Regency.

Pratama’s confidence is not without reason. Over the past few years, he has been a manufacturer of at least 50 various snack products. Not only cheese sticks, there are also milk sponge cakes, basreng, dodol and various handicrafts. Usually, he works if there are certain orders.

This time, said Pratama, it was different. He prepared a special time. Pratama and nine workers devoted four days to producing cheese sticks at their home in the Gandasari area, Ketapang District, Bandung Regency. If it turns out to be selling well, working hours will be increased to increase production quantity.

“The workers are their own neighbors. We hope it sells well. “The profits can later be used to supplement daily needs and children’s education costs,” said Pratama.

Good intentions

AGUS ASMARA PERSONAL DOCUMENTATION

Agus Asmara is seen, one of the coffee farmers in the Ciwidey area, Bandung Regency, West Java. Agus will market his luwak coffee products at the Sabilulungan Cultural Building in Soreang, the capital of Bandung Regency, during the U-17 World Cup from 11-21 November 2023.

Agus Asmara, a luwak coffee producer in Bandung Regency, is also reluctant to lose the opportunity to make a profit during the U-17 World Cup. This father of three plans to sell in a tent prepared by the Bandung Regency Cooperatives and SMEs Service Center for Integrated Business Services (PLUT) at GBS.

For this reason, over the last two days, Agus and five of his employees prepared 100 packages of their Luwak and Arabica coffee products. He branded “Cimanong Valley Coffee”, referring to his own 1 hectare coffee plantation in Ciwidey.

Agus sells it in the form of roasted beans and ready-to-brew powder. The price of coffee is between IDR 60,000-IDR 100,000 per 100 grams.

Apart from selling his products in packaged form, Agus also sells coffee drinks. For IDR 10,000-IDR 15,000 per glass, visitors can enjoy black coffee, luwak coffee, and milk coffee.

I am targeting a profit of above IDR 5 million. Later, some of the profits will be given to Sri. She now supports three children alone.

“We are targeting a profit of up to IDR 10 million during the U-17 World Cup. “That amount reached three times the amount from online sales and taking part in bazaars,” said this 52 year old man.

According to Agus, the U-17 World Cup is like an oasis amidst the current difficult economic conditions. He gave an example, the highest daily income for his employees from selling coffee is only IDR 300,000. Not infrequently, it gets lower than that.

“All of my workers are married. “If the results here meet the target, there will be a bonus for them,” said Agus.

Head of the Bandung Regency PLUT Regional Technical Implementation Unit, Dewi Windiani, explained that during the U-17 World Cup, MSMEs will be focused on the GBS area. His party provided eight tents that could accommodate 16 business actors.

“We fully support MSMEs and street vendors to increase their income during this international event,” said Dewi.

Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna added that the audience at the U-17 World Cup in Jalak Harupat is estimated to reach 10,000 people per match. Therefore, he believes this event will provide benefits to the economic development of residents.

“We appreciate FIFA for giving Bandung Regency the opportunity to be one of the hosts of this big event. “We really hope that the benefits of the U-17 World Cup will be enjoyed by all groups,” hoped Dadang.

Football is more than just a game. There is always an opportunity for those who struggle. At the U-17 World Cup, some MSME players from Bandung seemed to believe in this philosophy. Over the next week, they will experience the excitement and rigor of “competition” outside the green field.
